Judgment
The Last Joint Savings Transfer
1. The Court finds that the parties held $4,000 in shared savings and that Colin withdrew $2,400, with Erin’s permission, for an apartment deposit.
2. Permission to transfer funds does not necessarily establish an agreement to a permanent unequal division. The parties acknowledged a subsequent exchange about sorting out their respective shares, which supports the conclusion that their final allocation remained unresolved. Colin’s claimed reliance does not establish a specific financial commitment arising from an agreement to retain the additional $400.
3. Under Rules 1, 2, and 8, the Court distinguishes the documented transfer from the disputed claim of permanent entitlement. Under Rule 14, the parties’ shared financial interests remain relevant despite their separation. Neither party has established a greater ownership interest, and the Court finds an equal allocation reasonable on the available record.
Order
4. Consistent with Rule 6, Colin shall pay Erin $400, resulting in each party receiving $2,000 of the original savings.
